About

RITO is a contemporary music collective rooted in Korean tradition, reimagining sound as a modern ritual.

Ritual – A sonic rite that opens perception and time.

Tori – A melodic grammar shaped by Korean tradition and emotion.

RITO combines piri(Korean double-reed instrument), traditional percussion, and live electronics to create hybrid sonic rituals that transcend time and geography. At the core of RITO’s identity lies the concept of Tori (調理), the regionally distinct melodic dialect of Korean traditional music. Tori defines not only pitch but also the emotional and expressive textures of sound, holding cultural memory within tone, phrasing, and improvisation. RITO reinterprets this profound grammar through electronic sound and improvisation, forging a new musical language for contemporary ritual.

EDITH is a singer-songwriter, composer, and sound artist who creates layered sonic worlds by merging electronic music with literature. Inspired by the poetry of Yoon Dong-ju, she explores human solitude and desire through distorted vocals and electronic beats. With works such as Samgyeong, Babel, and A Frightening Hour, she continues to build a unique electronic soundscape that bridges emotion and narrative.

SEAYOOL is a piri player, composer, producer, and director who has developed a unique sound world combining Korean traditional wind instruments with electronic music. Through projects such as Pyridoxine, Island:Island, and 4 3, he bridges senses, memory, tradition, and the present. By merging improvisation with DAW-based sound design, he proposes new sonic grammars for traditional instruments.

KANG SAN is a percussionist, traditional performance artist, and curator who experiments with the deconstruction and reconfiguration of rhythms based on the structure of Korean traditional percussion. Drawing from samulnori and mask dance, he integrates body movement, traditional sounds, and electronic textures to cross the boundaries of performance and sound. His work includes collaborations with international cultural institutes and curating independent film festivals, extending traditional art into global projects and community-based events.
